Kerrville ISD announced Justin Halpin as Technology Director. The appointment was announced during the February board meeting.
“With a strong commitment to innovation, leadership, and excellence, Mr. Halpin exhibits the vision necessary to continue to shape the future of our district’s technology initiatives,” Superintendent Brent Ringo said.
“As Director of Technology, he will continue to guide our team with a focus on empowering students, enhancing learning, and streamlining operations. He has served in almost every role within our technology department and we are excited to welcome Mr. Halpin into this position.”
Halpin has been with the district since 2020, starting out as a computer aide, before joining the technology department as an IT Technician. Halpin has a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity & Data Assurance, along with 10 professional certifications.
Being a part of public education is nothing new to Halpin, having a mother and three aunts all working in school districts and being married to a current KISD teacher.
“My whole life I have been around educators,” Halpin said. “I learned that I had a passion for all things IT when I spent my summers in school computer labs while my mom taught summer school. By seventh grade, I was spending an hour each school day as a student worker going around fixing computers on my junior high campus. While pursuing my Associates degree, I worked in the Victoria College Computer Labs and the University of Houston-Victoria helpdesk.”
Halpin is married to his wife, Stephanie, who is a fourth-grade teacher at Nimitz Elementary, and they have two sons who are Tivy graduates. Both are in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M, with the older being commissioned into the Air Force upon graduation, while the younger hopes to be commissioned into the Navy.
“We have seen first-hand the impact that KISD has had on their lives, and we are very proud to be part of the KISD Family,” Halpin said.
