Elina Svitolina chatted to former French player Marion Bartoli, who won Wimbledon in 2013, after winning today on Philippe-Chatrier.
She said: “Still cannot believe the match went my way to be fair! Jasmine was playing really, really well. It was really tough for me but very happy I could stay composed, fight until the last point and in the end here I am in the next round.
“I had to be aggressive, I had to stay really focused on my game plan and taking the really small opportunities to win the second set. I’m very pleased I could win that second set and played really well to close the match.”
Speaking about her husband Gaël Monfils, beaten by Jack Draper (5) in an entertaining second-round match, Svitolina added: “We draw motivation from each other, the fight we try to put on the court. It’s all about trying to stay focused on the fight.
“It was a very physical match, so I will just have an ice bath, eat some food, and get some love from my daughter and Gaël.”
