Anti-blue light glasses have become quite a hit with gamers over the years, as well as anyone who spends far too much time in front of their screen. Their ability to block out a good portion of blue light from your monitor really does help reduce the amount of eye strain you experience. Gunnar is one of the more popular brands, but it usually comes at a premium price. So it was a surprise to find this golden egg.
We aren’t always able to talk about things like this since we (clearly) focus on consumer electronics and not glasses. But this one relates closely to our everyday exposure to such technologies, and it was just too good not to point out. The fact is that, not only are these glasses an affordable option for Gunnar, but they are a special Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 edition on top of it all (for you COD fans out there).

Typically, Gunnar glasses will run you somewhere between $50-$100. Why? Because they know that people will pay for it. They do make comfortable models that look nice and seem to feature a little higher quality materials than some of these off-brands. But at the end of the day, it is still a bunch of plastic and two tiny hinges that don’t cost that much to manufacture. So it mostly comes down to the same reasons people buy specific brands of shoes, like Nike.
But that doesn’t mean it absolutely has to cost you a lot of people to buy into something like this. At times, you can find a good deal that outranks any of the average prices out there for a brand. In this case, a limited edition pair that you would think would run you just as much, if not more. But instead, it seems not enough people were buying it. So you can pick a pair up for less than nearly all of the other models. That price is just $32.50 at Newegg.

These also come with a special edition COD case, soft drawstring bag, and cleaning cloth. All themed after the COD Modern Warfare 3 video game. A game that wasn’t adopted by all COD fans, but at this price, who cares? It should fit well with the personality of any COD fan, and they are one of the Gunnar models that feature a slightly larger lens, providing for a much larger field of coverage around your eyes.
Sure, you can still attempt to find an off-brand pair out there and dive into the hit-or-miss adventure of sorting through the fakes that don’t block anything, the ones that block far too much (turning everything around you overwhelmingly orange, or the ones that can sometimes cause their own form of eye strain due to imperfections in the lenses. Just to eventually find an affordable pair that suits you well for around the same price or a little less.
Or, you can snag one of these before they run out and know that you have a good one like I have. Not only that, but some of my colleagues have since done the same.
This is all based on our own experiences with Gunnar and so many other brands. At the end of the day, Gunnar usually lands quite well with the overall user experience. We just don’t usually brag about them because it is hard to recommend them at their typical price range. This just happened to cause enough commotion that it deserved a story–so here it is.
