Anthony Edwards may see more minutes, Ayo Dosunmu available for Spurs-Timberwolves Game 2


The Minnesota Timberwolves are getting a key player back for Game 2 against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

They also may get more minutes from Anthony Edwards.

The Timberwolves announced Wednesday morning that shooting guard Ayo Dosunmu is available after missing Game 1 with a right calf injury. And head coach Chris Finch said pregame that Edwards will play in Game 2 and may see his minutes increased by “a few” after he played 25 in Game 1.

Edwards was previously listed as questionable on Wednesday’s injury report. But he went through his normal routine at morning shootaround and is ready for Game 2. He played off the bench in Game 1, helping to lead the Minnesota upset with 18 points, 3 rebounds. and 3 assists on 8-of-13 shooting from the field.

The Timberwolves will seek to take a 2-0 series lead on the road Wednesday night.

Dosunmu missed Game 1 after playing a key role in Minnesota’s first-round win over Denver in Edwards’ absence. Dosunmu led Minnesota’s Game 4 win with a career-high 43 points after Edwards suffered his bone bruise and hyperextended left knee.

He then started and scored 18 points in Game 5 before his calf injury sidelined him for Game 6. If Edwards returns to the the starting lineup in Game 2, Dosunmu projects to return to the bench, where he would play a key role as a scorer and 3-point threat in Minnesota’s second unit.
